Open House at Southeast Light

In 1993, the Southeast Lighthouse was moved back from the edge of Mohegan Bluffs to save it from destruction. Come see our progress in restoring this National Historic Landmark. Wonderful exhibits are now displayed in the restored half of the Keeper’s Quarters. There is more to be done and you can tour the unrestored half of the Keeper’s Quarters to envision the future of this majestic lighthouse.

On Saturday, August 9th, enjoy the beauty and drama of a rising full moon from the grounds of Southeast Lighthouse at 8:21 pm. You can savor special Hors d’oeuvres and Refreshments in the glow of the full moon.

At the event, you can place bids in our curated Silent Auction of artwork and antiques including a selection of original antique Block Island views and Block Island boats by the American Impressionist Reynolds Beal (1866-1951). These rare original works of art have been donated from a private collection to support the restoration of Southeast Lighthouse. Each is one-of-a-kind, specially matted and framed.
